Ferries link Belfast and the Isle of Man to Lancaster (Heysham); Belfast and Dublin to Liverpool; and Northern Europe to Newcastle (North Shields). Road and public transport networks conveniently link these ports with Cumbria - The Lake District.

By Air
Cumbria - The Lake District is served by a number of airports. With direct rail services to the area, Manchester is the most convenient airport. However if you are hiring a car, Blackpool airport is just 40 minutes away and Newcastle, Glasgow and Liverpool airports are all within a two-hour drive of the area.

By Road
From the south - leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A590 towards Barrow-in-Furness. At Greenodd, turn right on the A5092 and after approximately 2 miles turn right onto the A5084 at Lowick (signposted: Coniston). At the end of the A5084 (T-Junction at Torver), turn right onto the A593 and follow this road into Coniston.

From the north - follow the A591 to Ambleside and then take the A593 and follow the signposts to Coniston.
